Kate is a time lord like the Doctor. She Has known him since they were young, but the were separated when she was sent to earth to live and die as a human. She lived most of her first life as a human and almost died, before hearing a voice telling her to open her old fob watch. When she did, she became a timelord again, and regenerated. She spent her second life searching for Gallifrey, before sacrificing herself to save humans from Cybermen. She found the Doctor in her third life, and is now travelling with him.
She is tough, and will punch someone if they insult her. She considers herself part human - because she lived as one. She agrues with the doctor, but respects and understands him.
