I've seen that electric back ring thing done on a lot of Lightning-Type characters in a lot of anime and video game series, like Mercurius the Thunder Gundam, Eneru in One-Piece,Β Tesladonna in Cosmic Break, Dynatron in Mighty No 9, and Zan Partizanne in Kirby Star Allies.
It wasn't until now that I found that they originate from this Japanese Thunder god.
