Here is another example of flotsam in the studio. When I draw with a crow quill, I keep a small cap of ink near by to dip in. I had just laid out a private commission and had a little ink left over, so I doodled up this naughty looking girl.
She was set aside into one of the growing and wandering (“Have you seen that piece I was working on?!?” stacks of artwork and forgotten while I finished the portraits I was working on. I was well into painting “Winterlong” when she resurfaced.
Needing a break, I stretched her out on my back-up board and fiddled about with her. Really only an exercise in skin tones and getting that sheer quality in her slip. I’m always pleased with the attention she gets.
