It is a raven. Β Crows have not migrated up here yet when this was shot last week.

I'm agreeing with Rahula87 on this, it looks like a crow and not a raven, so this guy may have migrated up a little early. It lacks the shaggy, v-shaped throat feathers and the beak is really slender. I also usually see a slight overbite/hook/point on the tip of ravens beaks but this guy is even at the tip. He's also not glossy. He's in very good feather but it looks more like a semi-gloss than the ravens usual high gloss, almost wet look. Maybe it's the angle skewing everything but I'd strongly guess crow over raven.
In any case, beautiful photo!

Many thanks, however it landed very close to me and it was WAY bigger than a crow as well it's vocalizations were that of a Raven. Β It is a Raven, unless suddenly crows now have almost 4 foot wingspans....
same group of one of the 4 birds shot within 20min. Β This one in the sun, the one in this post in the shade.
but you know what? I could have been fooled as there may have been 2crows and 2 Ravens, I see what you mean it does look crowleyish.
