Description
Pungent salty smells float me away,As I sit, unhurriedly,
Watching wave residue,
Sprawling across the sands that we once walked.
Reaching the smoothed rocks,
Where time was indiscriminate too.
An amaranthine being, he continues to course forwards,
And as blood courses through my veins,
I am drawn ever further from you,
Yet in the perpetual state of life- ever closer
To the shared state of being where we shall both reside- one day.
I picture the slightly sepia-ed photograph,
Sitting at home.
Of youths whose smiles will never fade- locked in permanent joy and closness.
Forever in that state, and so you are never gone, as you still reside there.
You existed- will always exist in that time.
But I do now.
Resting my head down on warm hands, full of life’s energy,
I feel where time has danced, like a bird, across my skin
Leaving it’s footprints by my eyes, on the soft fleshy planes of face
An unremitting reminder of the season’s passing
And as the waves crash, so do the memories
And the gentle whisper of cyclical life, on and on and on.
