The Type 2001 Hayuegun-class (Putonghua: 哈岳衮) nuclear-powered guided-missile destroyer is a series of large, highly-advanced warships created by Yongsheng Heavy Machinery Industries. Designed for anti-air, anti-ship, and anti-submarine roles, these heavy destroyers are equipped with the Type 3241 Tian-Gongdun combat system and are fitted with the Type 3241-200 Dragon-Eye multifunction active electronically scanned array radar (AESA).
Armed with a large amount of weaponry, anti-air armament consists of 128 long-range surface-to-air missiles that are launched from vertical launch systems, along with sixteen medium-range surface-to-air missiles that are launched from separate VLS. Meanwhile, anti-ship armament consists of seventy anti-ship cruise missiles, which are launched from separate VLS. Other armaments consist of a twin 130mm naval gun, three Type 347 gun-missile CIWS and two 533mm triple torpedo launchers.
The destroyers is equipped with the Common Display System. Crewmembers operate the system via "trackballs and specialized button panels", with the option to "interface by using touchscreens." The technology array allows crewmembers to monitor multiple weapons systems or sensors, saving manpower, and allowing it to be steered from the operations centre.
Onboard, the Hayuegun-class has an integrated power system, automated fire-fighting systems and automated piping rupture isolation, and a dual-band sonar controlled by a highly automated computer system.
Hayuegun, the lead ship, was launched in early 2001 and commissioned on December 21, 2004.
