Description As part of my research for my story, "The Legendary Journey," I studied the moves from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Throughout the entire 61 episodes, these are the sketches of the moves I was able to study. I'll do my best to describe each piece.

The first things you see near the title are the symbols that Avatar used and ones I made for myself. I haven't decided which one to use, and I might make more. The 4th and 5th ones are from Avatar, so they were just inspirations.

After the symbol is the hand gesture I that I felt should be more correct of producing fire. In Avatar, they have a a closed fist with the knuckles towards the opponent. But I felt a closed fist to opening up with the fingers still bent a more direct control of fire. When you close your fist, you can feel the heat inside the palm of your hand. So my character will open up his hand and push the heat out, and that'll be my fire.

Next to the hand gesture is the stance Avatar uses, but I may change mine to half the body in front of the other (one arm out and one leg out), that way they have more momentum and stability as the character would release their fire attack.

Next to the stance is a split move. Zuko did this during the final fight with Azula. Hands start at the waist, but out. Then the move up, cross at the chest, then pushed out to the sides as the hand opens up and aims the fire in two directions.

The next move, the Heat Wave 3, was an inspiration from "The Incredible Hulk." As the hands are in a fist and above the head, they come crashing together into a clap and a vertical wave of fire comes raging towards the opponent.

To the left side of the page is a Finger Snap. Just a simple illustration snapping your fingers, and when it causes friction, it lights the thumb on fire.

Continuing on is a Fire Slam. Hands up into a fist with one leg out, then stomping your foot to the ground as the arms swing down.

This next move, the Heat Wave 2, is pretty close to a weird dance. First the right hand is arched back behind the left ear, then swings across the ground as the fire is lit in a line in front. Swing both arms up while you jump lifts the fire up and raging higher, then as you land back down to the ground, swing your arms down, and the fire is pushed forward.

Below Heat Wave 2 is Shield 2 & Thrust. You can see below the illustration the first shield is pretty identical to the 2nd, instead the last move you push the fire forward.

Swinging back to the left side, we have a sketch of an Eruption move, more powerful than the one at the bottom. The idea is to squat closer to the ground, then raise back up without jumping up and making a wall of magma.

Next is a Burst move. Rotate your forearms around each other in a circular fashion in front of you. You can repeat this move as much as you want to built up power and momentum. Then when you are ready to release, bring your hands to one side of the waist, and as I like to put it, KAMEHAMEHA!

This next sketch was something I noticed during the Dance of the Dragon. It was a interesting pose, so I drew it.

Where there's fire, there's enough thrust to fly, as you see Ozai and Azula do quite often at the end of the show. The move is to have your hands circle up over your head then force them straight down creating thrust.

Back around is a Fire Kick, sketched from Azula. A flip in the air, but before she lands, she stretches her legs out and throws a fireball from her feet. Now I don't feel the my manipulation from the feet can or will produce as much power as the hands would, but it was a nice move.

Under the Fire Kick, is another move that uses foot work. The move is to get enough momentum to lift the leg up, around, and back to the ground in a circular motion, then the arm takes over and forces the fire forward towards the opponent. It's physically hard to me to do it myself, but just like the Fire Kick, it was an interesting move.

Next move is another Fire Slam move, this one fire is already started as the arms push up above the head, then the fire comes down in a line as the arms come down in a similar circular fashion.

Before we go back to the left side, a small sketch of a thrust move is next. This move was used to before Avatar firebenders started flying around and moved faster on the ground. Arms out, then move diagonally behind them to thrust forward with a little bit a lift.

Coming around again, we're back to the shield move. The move requires the body to make a 360 as the arm rotates around the body then come together knuckle to knuckle, created a fire that surrounds them.

Next are 3 quick sketches. The first one is a simple reversing the hand back and holding fire in the palm of your hand, then you would throw it like a baseball, or just push it forward and aim it at a target. This move and the next move were both inspired by "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." The next move was during Dave's Sorcery 101 lesson, which I will quote:

Balthazar Blake: What causes molecules to heat up?
Dave: They vibrate.
Balthazar Blake: Everything we see is in a constant state of vibration, thus the illusion of solidity. But how to we take that which appears solid and have it bursts it into flames? We will the vibrations to go faster. Step 1, clear your mind. Step 2, see the molecules. Step 3, make them shake! Got it?

So I took that quote and decided, shake the hand back and forth, shake the molecules, and things will catch on fire.

The next sketch is a simple foot sweep action. Like I mentioned before, I don't feel feet will be more powerful than hand movements, but a lot of the fire bending in Avatar was done with both hands and feet, so I added in some basic foot moves.

Back to the left, is a smaller Eruption move than the previous, just a simple hands up, and magma lifts up from the ground.

Here's a repetitive move throughout the elements, the breath move, but unlike Wind and Ice Breath where the lips are puffed out, the Fire Breath has the jaw wide open and breathing fire like a dragon would.

Next is just like the earlier Kamehameha momentum, so ignore it, but the next one was a move that made Aang decide to never fire bend again. Rotate the body in a 360 direction with the hands above the head, bring the arms down to the waist height, then push back out to shoulder length and push the fire out.

Below that is a simple underhand vertical motion, then back to the left are 2 simple thrusts, one two-handed and the other one-handed. Then an arm sweep move, and another underhanded move, but more horizontal than vertical.
