I am wondering if these two have a "backstory" on which they are close friends at first before turned into enemies. Anyways, have some cute Somby and Sphinx moment.Based from "Daring Done" MLP Season 7 episode 18

Sphinx: "Can you believe that dress she was wearing?"
Somnambula: "What century was she born in?"
Sphinx: "Century?Β She was born in the wrong millennium!"

Years later, they would meet one last time, in the crumbling ruins of a pyramid that the Sphinx had made her lair.
The Sphinx appeared as Somnambula had remembered her, at least in outer appearance. But now she was not the person - the friend - that Somnambula knew; her golden cat-like eyes, once so innocent and gentle, had become a cruel predator's gaze. What was once a nervous, frightened smile had become haughty and sneering, rows of knife-like teeth gleaming whenever she grins deviously, betraying a ravenous hunger. The way she moves, the way she carried herself, the things she did - she was no longer the sweet but scared creature whom Somnambula once saw needed her help and encouragement.
The Sphinx Somnambula knew had become a monster, driven by a hunger for power and resources that cannot be sated, a tyrant who seek to cower over those smaller, 'lesser' than herself to give themselves to her every whim. If she has her way, she would not only be the doom of Prince Hisan; she would be the starvation and ruination of this land.
It pained Somnambula to confront the one she had once called friend, but she knew to rescue Prince Hisan and the kingdom from the Sphinx's grasp, she had no choice. And besides, that pain it did not compare with the agony of seeing her friend becoming the fiend she is now.
"Of all the ponies in this kingdom who would take my challenge, it had to be you." The Sphinx spoke first, breaking the silence that had descended ever since Somnambula had entered the lair and stood in her presence. Her voice was mocking, and filled with bitterness. "You, who inspired the kingdom to defy me. You, who had the audacity to stand before and against me." Then, she snarled, and there was wrath in her voice, "You, who wish to deny all that should be rightfully mine!"
"Who else do you think would had done the same in my place?" Somnambula replied simply.
"... Admittedly, none that I know." The Sphinx admitted, cooling her anger. Then, she chuckled darkly, "It's ironic, don't you think? For some-pony who claims she would never give up on any-pony - one anyONE - you were so quick to turn on me, your old friend; so quick to dismiss all others in who could take my challenge at the earliest sign of their hesitation. But you know about all that, don't you? Like you always do."
"I do." Somnambula said firmly, but defiantly against the Sphinx. The words she spoke next took the Sphinx aback, "And neither have I given up on you."
Her face and her tone soften as she spoke her piece. "It is not too late to stop this. Please, release the Prince, and you can still make peace with him - with his kingdom, with the ponies of this land. Despite everything that had happened, you can still make amends." Somnambula's tone became pleading β not out of a desire for mercy like a begging victim, but of a gentle soul who desperately wished for someone she cared for take another misstep, "Please, old friend. It does not have to be this way."
But once more, Somnambula's forlorn desire falls short.
"Why not? You were the one who inspired me to go this way." The Sphinx replied, accusingly, "Was it not you who once taught me I should be assertive and confident, to not be afraid of anything? Was it not you who encouraged me to aspire for whatever goal that I desire? Was it not you who told me that I should embrace who I am, warts and all? I had yet to thank you for your teachings, you know; I took your words to heart, and I became stronger because of it - stronger and greater than the cowering weakling that I was. If this is what it all lead to, Somnambula, you have YOURSELF to blame!"
Somnambula felt her heartache worsen with those words, but she did not allow it to weaken her resolve. She held onto that inner fire that had driven her through all hardships and trials - the element which she would one day be known for - and she stood her ground against the opponent before her, and the guilt and doubt trying to fester within her.
"... That is true." Somnambula said softly, looking down. Then, she raised her head, as did her voice, "Even if that is not what I intended, what I wanted, that is true. I would not deny it. When I saw you grow and became better with my help, my heart flared with pride and happiness. Perhaps, it was that which had blinded me to where you were heading, the dark path that you would take with that strength you discovered within yourself. Some nights, I had pondered if it is truly my fault entirely that you had become who you are now."
Somnambula took a step forward, and the Sphinx found that despite her size, her strength, it took her much effort to force herself not to step back instinctively, "But then I realized; for all I did, I was, and still am, a teacher to you and all those I seek to help. All I could do is to guide you, give you advice, and encourage you. How you and others find the strength and solution to overcome their problems β and what they do with it afterwards β is theirs and theirs alone.β
βI accept that those are the choices you made, a reflection of who you are, who you become, and all I could do now, is wished that I could had shown you a better way. But what I want to know is this β¦β Somnambula asked, βDid all that you did, bring you happiness?β
The Sphinx seemed to consider this⦠and remembered what it was that she truly wanted at the beginning of all things. Only then did she realize what she had thrown away, losing sight of what she had truly desired in her hunger and lust for power.
βNo.β She answered at last, and for a moment she looked remorseful and ashamed at what she had become. Then, her expression hardened, becoming cold and imperious as her pride and desires reasserted themselves, burying her regrets, βBut it is far too late for anything else now.β
Looking at her recalcitrant stance, Somnambula knew now there really can be no turning back. With a deep sigh, she replied, βI wish fondly for the time when we were still friends.β
The Sphinx gave a forlorn look, but did not relent. βSo do I.β
There was a long silence as the two steel themselves for the showdown. Even in these final, tense moments, both took the time to recall the joyful times they spent together, and wonder if things could had been different.
And then, the Sphinx began.

There was a story I'm planning on making based off of a story called the mouse and the loin were these two could become best friends even if she had to make the Sphinx leave.
