I was actually fortunate enough to see this on THE BIG SCREEN recently. (a cinema within reasonable distance from me has a thing about playing the Studio Ghibli pictures every once in a while. OF COURSE I was gonna jump toward the opportunity to get the theater experience for this)

Anyway, for how often I revisited this movie back in the day, I THINK this is my first exposure to the JP Dub. Don't know if the background score was always different there, or if this is a more recent edit or something, but the lack of OOMPH to some parts was a bit distracting for me... but not quite to the point of being a deal breaker though, at the end of the day it's still Castle in the Sky.
