Jimmy's Backstory:

Born on September 6th 1958, Jimmy Vanechko was an only child parented by Czechoslovakian immigrants. As a child, Jimmy had difficulty speaking English and was bullied by his classmates thinking He was a "Soviet spy." He would get into fights on a daily basis, causing him to get detention at school regularly. He would also run away from school to and go home so he could avoid getting beaten up at school, leaving His parents to worry. Sometimes He would go as far as shoplifting from stores. One day He was brought home by a police officer for stealing soda pop, this angered Jimmy's parents. Jimmy's parents decided that if He continued his behavior they would send him to a boarding school for the rest of his childhood. With the consequences scaring him, He would promise His parents He would never do anything illegal again. Later in His childhood years, Jimmy can speak English fluently and changed schools. As a teenager Jimmy had a better time during his High school years. He joined the school's wrestling team and worked out regularly so He would not be bullied around anymore. After Jimmy Graduated, His parents convinced him to go to college. However He could not afford to attend college and Worked part time at a lumber yard. During the Pacifica insurrection and the break up of the USA, He was laid off of His job. Unemployed in a the newly formed Great Lakes Republic, He looked at enlisting in the Army since the pay was reasonable. He passed basic training and was attached the the Northern Lincoln Division. The Northern Lincoln Division is among the worst unit to be stationed with. It has problems with Leadership, Morale, and Obsolete weapons. Jimmy requested to be reassigned to the Chippewa Division as they had better leadership and equipment, but was denied. On May 1st 1978, would be the worst day in Jimmy's life when His unit was dispatched to quell the insurrection at Allendale.

Richard's backstory: Richard is the 2nd youngest of 3 in the Conelly family. He is known as "Dick the Mouse" by his father and classmates due to being prone to run away from bad situations. Richard developed a fear from his father and violence. His older brother Phil was concerned for his younger brother. Richard also has a hard time getting along with his younger sister, Cheryl and bullies her because of the fallout receiving from his father and classmates. Phil was angered by the way Richard was treating Cheryl and told Him that he was becoming like his father. Richard eventually stopped mistreating his sister. growing up Richard had fascination with cars and engines. Everyday before and after school he would stop at a auto shop and watch the mechanics do their work. sometimes the mechanics when not busy showed him around the shop. He loved the atmosphere of the auto shop and decided to work at one when he was older. When His brother Phil drove a car, He let Richard do the usual things to it like giving gas and cleaning it. At age 15 He was looking forward to getting a job at the auto shop he visited at. Then disaster struck when Richard's father attempted murdered his mother, who recently divorced with. Phil announced He would be moving along side with his brother to Allandale for a new start. Before He and Phil moved, Richard apologized to his younger sister for the bullying received by him. Cheryl forgave him and tearfully watch as her 2 siblings moved away and it would be while before she saw them again. Upon arriving at Allandale, Richard applied work at Joe & Hanks auto repair. Richards personality is similar to his brother, He like to help others when needed. At times he has difficulty on handling some situations and relies on his brother for help. When his brother died in Allandale, He relies on another person he recently assisted. James Vanechko.

I have made a huge decision to have Jimmy wear his military uniform for the better part of the first part of the story for a few reasons

1. He looks bland with a simple long sleeve shirt, even changing it to a military color didn't do justice.

2. Richard did not change out of his mechanic boiler suit until later in the story. Jimmy originally did early to change his top and I figure it felt inconsistent.

3. Both Jimmy and Richard wear clothing that symbolized their current and past occupation in the first part of the story. I felt it was appropriate for them to wear it until they changed.

4. Originally Jimmy changed his top since it had a fellow soldiers blood on it and to confuse ARM militants that they think they're fighting a civilian wearing a mix of military clothing and gear. Even though Jimmy is wearing a army uniform and paints himself as a easy target for them, it wouldn't make a difference since changing clothing would not make any significant changes when fighting ARM militants as they would identify foes with photographs or descriptions regardless of occupation.

5. Him wearing a non regulated top with a mix of standard issue GLRA gear and uniform would paint Jimmy as a deserter despite he isn't one. Later in the story He met up with former GLRA soldiers and even though they do not follow orders from the GLR they still look down upon deserters. Thus ending the story early at that part and that has to change.
