go to applications, right-click atom, click on 'Get Info', drag the .icns onto the icon on the top left. Or just search for better instructions online.To also change the icon in-app, right-click atom->Show Package Contents->Contents->Resources and replace the atom.icns file with this one (restart the app for changes to take effect).
