Description
It's Jake! I'm sure Pokemon Gray will be announced within coming months, and since I've had this character floating around in my head for awhile I decided to finalize his design. Jake was originally going to be much younger, closer to the rest of the Mirai no Bannin casts ages (10-14) but then I liked the idea of making him older better; he'll be like a mentor to the younger kids. His final design is half inspired by the dancers in Castelia and half by an Australian friend I had in Japan. Also, I need to seriously learn how to draw better dreads. So yeah, more about him: Jake is originally from a yet-to-be seen land, which explains his accent (that sounds like our world's Australian accent). He got a later start with his pokemon journey than most because he decided he wanted to finish school first. Because he tackled training as a late adolescent instead of a child, he's much better adjusted to living on his own. Jake is skilled at many things, including sports, guitar, drums, dancing, and cooking (he'd like to attend culinary school someday). He's optimistic and charismatic, and people are often drawn to him. Jake makes friends easily and tends to be good at keeping them, but his dedication to always giving people the benefit of the doubt can often come back to bite him in the ass.
Jake is a very skilled trainer and is hovering between First and Second Class. He applies the same kind of style to his battling as he does with his cooking--he uses instinct and experimentation to see what will work. On the opposite side, he is terrible at baking and at battling within strict limits. The only things Jake enjoys as much as preparing food are soccer and classic Japanese movies, particularly period films (this is apparent in half the names of his pokemon team). He can spout trivia about all three topics seemingly endlessly.
He's a bit different than most MIT characters in that he enters the scene an already established trainer with four badges; he meets up with Alex for the first time in Nimbasa City.
Team: Kambei the Samurott; Cody the Krookodile; Watanabe the Bouffalont; Katsushirou the Beartic; Kikuchiyo the Druddigon; Quetz the Archeops
(Yep, four Gen V teams and not a one has Scrafty)
