Man, I've been reading a lot of Lovecraft lately, this is JUST the thing!

The way you make him a hybrid of both the immense sea and the immense sky is positively inspired. Love it!

Impossible to know what you expected or wanted but missed.
So we can only comment on the effect it has which is great.
The monster is kinda different in that it seems half-assed something then morphing into some other indefinable thing... the overall effect is surprise but all in all it's very credible because of this unexpected character precisely. After all, alien is alien. Right?
And the focus on the tangibly real (the boat and fishermen) is excellent.
So it's a very good piece after all.
