I only wish to improve people and this is how I see fit. Also, while going to the moon is a nice testament of human skill, I honestly fail to see how that expands human skill as opposed to simply demonstrating that the smartest human scientists can figure out how to do so.

You are correct in that regard but do not forget to question what direct benefit we got from the moon landing. That was nothing more than scientific merit mixed with greed and pride. That ingenuity and effort could have been used to much greater effect to improve life within this planet.

What I am saying is that we should use the ingenuity that sent humans to the moon and apply it in completely different ways, such as improving life here on Earth. You could argue that societal issues are growing in severity and we need to have the same kind of solving the impossible problems applied here.
