during 2nd block my teacher decided to take the class on a "nature walk" thru rawson woods (note this blurp generic info for all posted pics from collection) an like lately i had to fight some with my cam batteries(i have like 8 fresh ones ready ok minute or 2 later it dosent work worse with flash on) if you are one of the students in these pics note/contact me state youre name--tyhen if i dont reconise can bug during school-- and ill gladly remove images from here(only ones i can see you in)this one me an one of my teachers--one ive shown these to-- both love this pic

Very nice shot. A little post processing may spice it up a little - but nice either way. And, I took a look at your gallery; I think you should focus on nature shots, and your drawing.

heres my critique, i can see that you wanted the main focus of the picture to be the the roots of the old tree trunk, but the composition draws the viewers eye right out of the picture. what i mean by that if that the perspective of the tree trunk going off into the distance is like a road way right of the picture, also one thing you could have done to give this picture a better composition would be to follow the 1/3 rule, that rule is that your subject (the trunk) should never be located right in the middle of the picture or ever half way in the picture, but 1/3 either from the top or bottom or from the sides.

I like this picture: the fallen tree appears to be dead, and seems to spread this death to the immediate surroundings, almost like it's parting the green. Yet it seems to fit perfectly into the atmosphere; I like that about nature, that two opposite things are really not that opposite at all.
Great work here.

Very nice angle on the photograph, makes the tree look nice and the rest of the photograph looks spacious, which I think is essential of woodsy-type photographs.
It's too bad it wasn't sunnier when you took this however, I think the photo would really pop if there were sun specks along the forest ground.

I'm not personally skilled at editing in sunlight, if that's what your talking about.
However I have seen some in-depth Photoshop tutorials on it floating around dA, if you did a search I'm sure you could find one.

i think i have an ideal of what i wanna try
use like 3 layers 1=base 2=edit-base2 3=touch to edit
take on 2 erasr/blur(fading eraser) spots i want the sun to be shinning rest brightness/contrast create more shaded effect later in the day then do final editing an make it look "just right" so yea
designed ta do on here if i wasnt beein so lazy id open my phoyto editor (i learned on cheap software)

Impressive perspective down the trunk of the tree and an interesting organic pattern/texture on the roots. Its got a real fantasy feel to it not sure why!? Needs an elf on it some where

Now in contrast to your other nature walk pics this one is both compelling and emotionally expressive containing a death within life feel. That whole cycle of existance thing you know

I really enjoy this piece. It seems as though you got a perfect angle, but I think it might be better done at a different time of the day, when the sun is just seeping through some of the trees.

It's got great composition, I like how the details of the underneath of the tree, leads up to the end of the log. And because it's a 'walk', the angle is appropreate, you walk through the bush and that's what you see. Don't really know much about photography so I can't really say what to do with distance of focus or whatever, but more clarity on the roots would've made it stand out.

actually the log was straight across the frame as you were walking past it so i got to a different place an shot it
as fer rest of shot my olympus did the resthas auto focus an all kinda old from when 3.2 megapixel was ok but i like it
