Description

Wow. I did this back in 2015 and never posted it. Silly me. This is an illustration for a stage play written by one of my dear friends. She asked me to do the cover, and when I learned who the play was about, I was thrilled! (I would have done it anyway, but come on, what a fascinating story!) I looked at a lot of Chinese models to get her facial features right, which was an interesting study (no, I did not just draw Mulan, and no this is not Chinese Pocahontas, I just happen to like that style of illustration for hair :-P). There are definitely things I would do differently if I could go back and change them, now (like the typography...) but I'm still pretty pleased with how it came out. It was also my first time using the (then) new brushes from photoshop with all of their blendy, blendy superpowers, so I consider this a good effort for where I was artistically at the time. (Please note this was not a paid commission; I did not receive any payment for this, monetary or otherwise. I just like to art for my friends.)

I'm not sure if it's available elsewhere, at the moment.
