Description I had the honor to cover the opening ceremonies of President Clinton’s library in Little Rock, Arkansas, on November 18, 2004. The weather was extremely uncooperative; over half of the photo pool ended up with inoperative equipment due to the cold rain. My Alaskan, survival, photographic skills kicked in, and I captured this unique moment when two presidents, Bill and Bush, physically stood in relation to each other in such a manner that reflected the very dynamics of the parties they represented. Bill is facing left engaged and looking on, while Bush faces right but looking down as if burdened by 9-11. Although in close proximity, they acted as if the other were not there. The rain added a gloomy mood, reflecting what our nation was experiencing, and still is today.
Moments like this mean the world to me. I get to experience events firsthand that most people only see in pictures or on TV, and I get to share them with the world. Nothing is more gratifying than living a rewarding life full of joy and sharing that blessing with humanity.
The secret for happiness is to learn to trust our hearts with all the passion we can put into each moment. When our hearts are full of love, no room is available for fear, hate, or lesser feelings; consequently, we have nothing to live for but love. When we live life in love, life gives more love to live.
