I generated this to use as a style image in DeepDreamGenerator, but I like it by itself. While it's a computer-generated pattern, there are a number of human steps invoved. First I used a simulation script to generate a Belousov-Zhabotinsky pattern (those swirly things) in the circles. I cropped out a circular patch, used GIMP and inkscape to vectorize the result and then used an Inkscape script to generate a random circle packing. These circles are filled with the vectorized patterns, each colorized randomly and scaled to size. I can do this with different color palettes that I extract from images.
