Description This is a piece to practice tones and values...As you can see, the tones are laid in roughly, almost like blocking in colors and shapes in traditional paintings. It's far from refined, but I did this because A.) I haven't done jack sh*t in quite some time, and B.) I wanted to practice adjusting skin tones and natural shadows and stuff. The original photo reference was a lot paler, so I adjusted with warmer skin tones and such. The actress portrayed is the lovely Christina Ricci.

Yeah.... It's basically the same concept, only done manually and with more subtle colors... The posterization look could also be because I rounded the corners a little more on the linework.

i love it. i like taking some of my digital photos and using photoshop to apply the cutout filter with complex edges, as many levels as possible and the edge fidelity set as high as it will go. this makes the photo look a wee bit like a posterization, since i can't draw for shite, hee hee.

i envy you your talent
