Description

This is an FAQ for my MMD Splatoon 2 Models, which you can find here!

I've gotten a lot of questions about my Splatoon model conversions, and instead of answering them over and over I decided just to answer them here!

      QUESTION:

Why won't my clothes move with the model?      ANSWER:

Unlike SFM (even though I'm not totally sure how SFM works) You need to use a specific program to load in the parts in order for the bones to be combined together and move together! This is a program called PMX Editor, you can get an English version Here or Here  < (newer version, but more complicated.)      QUESTION:
My clothing/hair/shoe textures are all showing up white! How do i fix this?      ANSWER:
All of the textures are located in the folder with their respected pmx files, some in "tex" folders, some without (HAIRS AND PANTS HAVE TEX FOLDERS, ALL CLOTHES DO NOT) What this means is if when you take textures from their tex folders, you MUST put them in the respected tex folder in the Inkling/Octoling base "tex" folders. Then they should show up. When it comes to the clothes/shoes/hats, all you need to do is drag them into the folder with the "Inkling/Octoling" pmx's. If you do that, the textures should show up!      QUESTION:
My hat won't move with my inkling/octolings head! Why?      ANSWER:
The only clothing pieces I haven't weighed are the headgear! Weighting to the head is a simple process, just follow This Tutorial and it'll show you how to weigh objects to a models head!      QUESTION:
How can I colour my inklings hair/Clothes?      ANSWER:
The best way to recolour Inkling/Octoling hair is to use a drawing/photo editing program such as Photoshop, Paint Tool SAI, Paint.Net, Gimp, etc. Just create a new layer, use your preferred colour, make the layer a "Multiply" Layer, and it should show the texturing underneath, and you'll have a finished hair texture! This also works for certain clothes that need to have a specific colour. Be sure to select ONLY the area you want to colour (MAKE SURE you DON'T select the white underside on the texture! The easiest way to avoid this is to make a copy of the texture that is completely white, and another that has your solid colour, and set the white underside to the uncoloured texture, and vice versa.) I've included PSD files that you need Photoshop, Paint Tool SAI, Paint.Net (I'm sure there's more but these are the main programs) to open them. They have certain sections separated in layers that all you need to do is fill them in with the colour of your choice!

      QUESTION:
I'm looking for [Specific Clothing Item] and I can't find it in the pack! Where is it?      ANSWER:
It's a LOT of work to convert every last piece of clothing from SFM, and not all of it is up online right now. It's more than just dragging and dropping, and I don't have that kind of time anymore. Also, most clothing from Splatoon 1's textures are INCREDIBLY bitcrushed and low-resolution that I have to run it through multiple programs / repaint sections, and that takes a LOT of time. However, I can set up a journal for requests for clothing pieces and I can get to them when I have the free time and release a second pack! (Maybe including weapons?)      QUESTION:
I only want one piece of clothing from this set, but can't remove the other pieces! How do I remove the unwanted pieces of clothing?      ANSWER:
The Hero suit, both amiibo Off The Hook outfits, the Retro set, and the female OctoAgent outfit are all grouped together in one PMX file. If you only want one of the pieces of clothing, you need to select the unwanted mesh, hit Shift + Delete together, and a little menu will pop up. Simply hit "Yes," and it'll be gone! Make sure you have all the other materials hidden (your characters body) so they don't get deleted with your selection! This also works if some of your character's skin is poking through the clothes! Just select the mesh on the base and delete it!      QUESTION:
Can I use these models in VRChat?      ANSWER (UPDATED):
I no longer have anymore qualms with converting these guys to VRChat, so if you would like to make your squid or octo as a playable character in VRChat with these models, you absolutely may. All I request is is credit/a linkback to the original post somewhere if you post images with them in VRChat, like on Twitter, DeviantART, etc.!
      QUESTION:
Will you be updating this pack when Splatoon 3 gear is released?      ANSWER (UPDATED):
Sadly, no. I have no intentions of coming back to this pack to update it anymore, as that is long past me and I have many more responsibilities now compared to when I first made this pack. If you would like more Splatoon MMD stuff though, check out  Futatabi6 here on DeviantART for more Splatoon MMD content!

If there's any questions you still have, please ask them here!

I have the squid nordic hat, but it's too large for the model. Also, there are no textures that came with it. Can you please fix that?

My apologies! The nordic hat was a mesh I forgot to delete because while going through the files I couldn't find the textures anywhere!

What about the hair colors for the inkling and octoling genders. I know that blue and green are for the boys and that orange and pink are for the girls, but do they have to be gender specific? And also, what about purple and yellow?

There's no limitations for what colours you want to use for your characters! Use any colour you'd like, even ones that aren't in the game!

Joey Sandbag, this is for you. Why didn't you make the wearable gloves for the inklings and octolings? Would you like to build them and weigh them for our models? Please do so, we would like to see that.

There were no glove supplied for me to use with the SFM models I was given. I found it strange myself, but I don't have the time or patience to build individual gloves from scratch. The easiest way to add simple gloves to your characters would be to use this tutorial!

I'm not going to convert them because I cannot find the gloves anywhere. I'm sorry.

Quick question. Is it alright to do a public release of a finished OC? With proper credit of course!
