Description
Unable to shut out the fury of the fight, the little boy seized his mother's wand, stepping between the two battling giants. He had seen the thing help his mother before - perhaps he could help her with it now, to make them stop fighting, to make it safe, to make things quiet again. He realized too late that he had no idea how to use it: he had stepped in the center of a raging storm with an inert stick in his hands. The impending blow from his father was only of incidental concern, something to be expected. What finally shook his resolve was the sudden insight that his mother would barely see him, would not welcome his childish impulse, and certainly would not value him any more for it.
" . . . Mummy . . ." was all he could say, in a constricted little voice.

This is so beautifully intense. The humiliated anger in her eyes is especially haunting. Sooner or later I suspect Tobias will pay for it.

reminds of expressionalism, and li´l Sev - makes you want to grab him and give him consolation! The father appears as his grown up personality. of course we, the Snape fans, are aware that Severus is exactly what is shown here - a deeply hurt and misunderstood child, whose talents and needs were always denied....is that why we love him so much?

This is so powerful! All stark and shadowy, with incredible poses and expressions. The faces of Sev and Eileen will be imprinted on my mind for ages!

I love how the linework and tones make the scene super atmospheric and expressive, Cathy.

That is just unspeakably sad. Both the image and the little bit of story you composed. The expression on his face is so very helpless and like the sad looks of the children in Dickens's books who are having their innocence and youth ripped from them day by day. I like the color scheme here with the purple, yellow, and green, like you had mentioned at one point, colors of bruises. Very effective. Stunning drawing that really pulls at your heart strings.

Poor little Sev. He is so disturbingly desperate and innocent here. And they would barely see him.
