Snails is a character I wish to see succeed. Though I have to admit, snips is notably less..."malleable". The straight man in a team of two dim-wits. Like Eddy, but to his credit not such a jerk.
He is on shaky ground for character building, portly and ignorant are hard traits to work with and he could easily become more "annoying" then "charming" as the posts here demonstrate the general discontent with his friend's slowness.
The fastest and safest way to build Snips up is to generate some sympathy in what ever plight he might find himself in. Perhaps making him passionate and determined to his goals, even if he remains mostly ineffective.

He also has a cooler voice actor (Richard Ian Cox) than Snips....granted, there's always the worrying possibility that Studio B will cast Moneca Stori (Kagome) as Derpy Hooves and he'd be commanded to SIT every five minutes but, well, that's something we'll face when it comes.
