Description When the lord's daughter was displaced from her own body by an angry witch, her wandering spirit immediately sought the aid of her family's champion vassal - the Armored Lion.

The Armored Lion was a knight of renown, famous for his lion-like valor and his armor-like armor. He was a very large man who could plow through ten armed opponents with ease (eleven, if they were unarmed). Also, he died a long time ago.

This is a problem. So ghost girl instead enlists the aid of his armor which stands over his grave. Begrudgingly, the armor leaves its post to perform its master's duty in his stead.

And so begins the Armored Lion's final quest: to find the witch and destroy her. His quest does not end, because I am only half a story teller and don't know how to wrap things up. But if you believe in yourself, you can imagine it!

Sometimes people ask me "John, where do you get your ideas from?" Usually I fail to answer or make one up, but this time I can say with all honesty that I got it from stucco!
You might be able to spot it if you look in the upper right quadrant of this image here: [link]

My buddy ~Rakugaki-otoko also tried the same technique, with different results. Check it out! [link]
It's fun stuff.

This is awesome! I'll definitely have to find stucco to stare at and try this myself. XD

I always see such images in stucco, ceiling tiles, and carpets. Coloured tiles turn into games of Go (it really irks me when there is an impossible move made). Probably from when the kids in the factory get bored.

I wonder though. If The Armored Lion can defeat eleven unarmed opponents, and plow through ten armed opponents, how many opponents could he defeat if they had weapons? You should ask the stucco.

Darn. Once again the stucco prevails and afflatus is given in such a manner that I can not properly process it with all my cognitive might.
Curse you, ghastli-corn.

I love the idea of "armor-like armor". Does that mean it's twice as armor-y?

The evil witch is clearly Lin-Lin, Tankmage Petia's companion in Eurasia.

Turns out that the overlord of Eurasia was the father of this girl, so Lin-Lin displaced her from her body in an attempt to psychologically damage the overlord (or just to troll him).

The girl was none too happy, however, and decided to seek help from a MAN OF DESTINY, except he was dead, so she instead asked his armor and ordered him (it?) to punch Lin-Lin in the face until there was no more face to speak of, obviously dispelling the curse this way.

Or maybe none of this happened and his quest does not end and has no relationship whatsoever with Tankmage. Sniff.

ANYHOW, I love the flame-mane effect on Armored's helmet and the smooth lights on the girl. Very pretty.

So I'm not the only one who does this! I see images in textures from doors and walls all the time, but whenever I point it out, people are just, "Wtf you talking 'bout girl?"

Nicely done, Mr. Su. I like how the girl kinda blends in with the background.

I used to look up at my ceiling (made of a similar material)
and draw images from the pattern.
I was in that room for 17 years and I knew where every single one of the patterns were without marking them out
...
the ceiling was painted and sanded when I left for uni~

Really good and imaginative idea, I can imagine this turning into meme

I would actually go to the length of writing a one-shot about this, but I think it would deserve more than just words on a page. This would need to be a short manga, or at least a short story decorated with illustrations, to convey it. Nice story, even if you couldn't finish it.

Hahaha, I have totally done this sort of thing using my own stucco ceilings. I've been finding pictures in them since I was like 7. (So, 11 years of pictures. Sheesh!) I totally have multiple dogs, a giraffe, a wizard, a ton of tiny dancing people, random ladies, a cool mecha robot head thing, various cartoon people, an old man, and many other things on the ceiling above my bed. Stucco is awesome. It makes me sad when people have smooth ceilings.

Wow, you drew this from looking at stucco? That's a great idea! It's like finding shapes in clouds, I guess.

As usual, you've come up with an intriguing story to go along with your characters. Sounds like a story I would read from beginning to end, if you ever got around to writing it.

Love the colors you used in this. So many soft blues.

JohnSu In reply to DetectiveAnonymous [2011-05-28 18:09:35 +0000 UTC]

the palette would have been even bluer had the armor been greened from verdigris, too! But then it looked too much like the Statue of Liberty so I didn't.
