To really make tattoos work, I always render the skin first. Then I do the tattoos on a different layer and make them a multiply, and drop the opacity to arround 80-85%.

Since I had her skin done, I thought it would be fun to render the clothing since I penciled it out from the beginning to get the negative space right.
