Description
The above illustrations show the general plans for the Arcos MK I Command Module, aka the bridge module. Located on top of the ship (Deck04) the command module is in fact rated as a lifeboat so in the event of catastrophic vessel damage, it can be utilized to ferry the command crew and passengers (a maximum of six persons - eight but with discomfort) to safety. The views show the module without the command seat which is typically located on the port side and is occupied by the vessels commander, the Shipmaster, with the co-pilot (if any) to their right. This artwork was prepared for the planned Outland Industries Arcos MK I Technical Manual. The bridge consists of two sections. Forward is the actual command (conn) and behind it in a separate compartment is the waste extraction facility (WEF), and it is necessary due to the height of the module aft for the user to duck to enter, but that isn't a problem as immediately after entering they sit to use the facilities. Next to the toilet is a separate unit for the washing of their hands as is a polished metal vanity mirror. Those of you who have noted that the pilots exit to an open well don't worry. In actual use, the well is sealed by a pressure hatch which becomes the floor and remains in place until such time that the pilot is required to go below - and this can be seen stowed in a well beneath the command seating. Also be aware of the two grab bars either side of the door that assist crew members emerging from the zero-gravity dropshaft which runs between Decks01-04. In this reworking, the seating can be dragged back on its railing to permit easier movement. NOTE that the helm and foot peddles are shown in this image. As of this time, 11/12/23 this is the current design for the command module and unless major changes take place, it is unlikely to be altered.
NOTE that the human figure introduced into the images is two meters tall.
