Description
Although dedicated medical facilities and institutions exist in the Fallen Worlds Universe, it isn't uncommon for ships, especially mid-range and larger vessels, to have very complete medical facilities all of their own (including the Arcos MK I that features a full medical suite) but such is the state of the art that very sophisticated devices now exist that can be used in the field to help aid recovery of an injured or ill person.Seen in this image is an AutoMedic - the generic name for any device that can scan, diagnose, and administer information and a certain level of first aid to an injured or sick person. In this case we see the Gallis FG5 AutoMED, a device that is capable of diagnosing medical conditions, and then providing information to assist in that patients recovery. The upper section features a programming panel, and the lower half a scanner plate, which is also configured for deep tissue regeneration and bone healing. The device can also use localized fields to temporarily prevent pain impulses from reaching the patients brain, and this is so that the healing scanning head element can work without causing the patient additional distress.
The second image shows an AutoPharm, in this case the Babvalo GHq6 model. The device is fitted with two or three phials of molecular solution, which when the device is programmed is fed into the device's interion mechanism and converted via molecular polarization into whatever legal pharmaceutical is required. It is programmed not to manufacture narcotics and any attempt to change the programming will render the device wiped and useless. Once the required drug(s) are manufactured, they are administered to the patient via the twin needles on its underside.
There is a safety feature built into the device that prevents too much usage of any given substance to prevent addition (and this works by reading the patients D.N.A. so if the device is being used among a large party of people, it will work regardless). Among the more useful substances manufactured are painkillers (of varying strengths), anti-intoxicants, sedatives. When the phials are empty, they must be refilled with a neutral source material which will be reorganized at the molecular level to create whatever drug is required.
Finally on the far right we have an AutoKnitter, in this case the Rollins VKnit 578-70 model. This is a surgical tool designed to knit together living tissue. It can be used by professionals and amateurs alike, as the device is designed not to do any harm, so it is impossible to use it, or attempt to use it to cause damage to living tissue that isn't damaged. However, it will work to knit damaged tissues, using a D.N.A. reader and a RNA/DNA probe mechanism to create tissue on demand for healing purposes. To do this, it contains a phial of neutral matter that can be molecularly reorganized to create tissue when needed.
