Star Trek: Strange New World - Season Two / Episode Episode Five - "Death in Paradise."Previously...
From the desert to the jungle, Myra, Ryan and the scouting party are lead from the crashed 22nd Century cargo ship to the jungle when one of the survivors explain that their cargo ship was shot down.
Taking the shuttle, Myra and Ryan leave the scouting party to assist with the survivors' descendants and go in search of a rumoured research base.
Upon arrival, Shaw and Blake discover an abandoned outpost. The outpost is clearly of 22nd Century Starfleet design.
Somehow, Starfleet established an outpost here almost two centuries before they should have even been out this far in the Alpha-Quadrant.
Ryan believes it's a remnant of the Temporal Cold War causing the pair to go in search of any technology that could assist in getting both the Ascendent and Intrepid crew off the surface -But just as they're about to make an important discovery, T'Pol and Kelham arrive to prevent them from using a device from the 29th Century!
T'Pol has learnt that Ryan is an agent from the 29th Century. She and Kelham confront the man posing as a 22nd Engineer only for Ryan to quickly access a device that causes him to dematerialise...
...Ryan re-appears some three months later in the St. Helena colony to find it all but abandoned, save Trip Tucker who has been making regular trips to the colony to garnish supplies and technology to help in making the Intrepid and Ascendent crew's lives a little easier on the surface.
As Trip works on a device that could radically alter the atmosphere and enable them to leave, Ryan re-appears and manages to confide in Trip about his true purpose for being here.
From what Ryan tells him, Trip decides to give the time agent the benefit of the doubt. One of the tales that Ryan confesses is that Trip and T'Pol both need to be returned to their own time, that they are instrumental in the founding of the Federation and really must go back.
Trip explains that as far as anyone knows here, right now, is that history shows that Trip died aboard the Enterprise on its final mission en-route back to Earth (-referring to Enterprise episode 'These are the Voyages.') that he has spent the last three months coming to terms with that fact and is actually happy to be in this time after he lost so much during the Xindi attacks.
With Trip on his side, Ryan asks the engineer for help in getting off this planet. That he is needed in the 29th Century and according to the timeline, Ryan shouldn't have been stranded here.
Meanwhile, back at the Ascendent camp, Aldred detects a fleet of Tholian ships in orbit. He has managed to get the sensors working just enough to realise that the Tholians are also out of time and from the 29th Century.
With it an almost impossibility to survive another attack, Aldred works with T'Pol, Myra and Kelham in preparing for the inevitable.
Two days later, the future Tholians break through the atmosphere and wreak havoc on the surface. As they destroy what's left of the Ascendent colony, the crew take refuge in the St. Helena colony.
When they arrive, there is no trace of Trip and Blake. They have managed to create a vortex manipulator and fled the planet. Kelham and T'Pol find the manipulator and attempt to programme it to travel through space rather than time.
In small groups, both Starfleet crews flee to 25th Century Earth...
Myra, one of the first through the vortex managed to convince the admiralty of where the Ascendent and her crew have been for the last six months and work together with Captain Ro'Mah of the starship Abyss in assisting the refugees.
However, it doesn't take long however for the Tholians to realise where the Starfleet crews have disappeared too and as Aldred and the final band of Ascendent crew members flee through the vortex, Aldred is shot by a Tholian weapon, fatally wounding him.
Arriving on Earth dying, Myra attempts to save the Ascendent's former science officer.
With his last breath, Aldred tells Myra that the Tholians are right behind them...
With no respect for the timeline, the Tholians from the 29th Century pour through the vortex and begin an extermination of Earth!
And now, the continuation...
Finley McKechine and several other Ascendent crewmen have stayed behind on the planet to help assist the crews flee through the vortex.
The Tholians have now totally surrounded the St. Helena colony and have breached the compound. The vortex manipulator is malfunctioning, causing it to jump between different points in time. With little choice to risk traversing the vortex or being slaughtered by the Tholians, Fin and two other security officers decide to take the risk and jump through the vortex...
...In an instant, Fin and his security officers are catapulted back to Earth however, they have arrived three months into the future.
Earth has been decimated by the Tholians, San Francisco, home of Starfleet Command, like many cities has been devastated. Tholian warships hang in the sky, exterminating the population beneath. Starfleet fighter shuttles attempt to stop them, but the three hundred year more advanced Tholian ships' weapons cut through the Starfleet shields like a hot knife through butter.
Fin and his two officers have arrived in a war zone...
[synopsis to be continued]
Star Trek: Strange New World.
Set just months after Star Trek: Nemesis we find the crew of the starship Ascendant traversing a region of space known as the Krona-Expanse, a massive nebula over nine sectors in diameter in search of new life and civilisations when they come under attack of two Romulan Warships.
With no choice and after being attacked by a new type of Romulan weapon, the ship is forced to land on a nearby planet, deep within the Krona-Expanse.
As the dust settles, it becomes clear that the crew of the Ascendent's chances of rescue are highly unlikely. A strange atmosphere prevents any type of transmission being sent through it and its mysterious ion properties cause the four remaining support craft's engines to be all but useless.
Realising that they are without any chance of rescue, the crew come to the disturbing conclusion that they are now forced to make a life for themselves here on this Strange New World...a world with many indigenous populations, unusual phenomena and now the crew of the Ascendent, four hundred and ninety of them, all trapped here. Will they turn on each other? Will they band together and more importantly, will they survive on a world over fourteen thousand light years away from everything they hold dear?
Alone. With no chance of survival, beyond the final frontier. Will they survive? Could you?
