Sorry for the terrible quality! This is the best picture I could catch when I haven't yet sprayed it with fixative.

The holiday image this year was going to be canon John/Simon -- in canon they're nearly in their thirties -- with their pair of newly adopted ferrets, being all warm-snuggly and crap. But they insisted that they have their privacy and that I'm already sharing their whole life story, and in other words the picture just wasn't turning out and didn't want to happen.

Instead I ended up doodling the basic anatomy for this on a scrap in a notebook !lady-librarian gave me and then fleshed out the concept while chilling with ~Davhar on the train back from the city. I said "This has to be a full illustration" and when we got back I tried it on a watercolor postcard with soft pastel pencils.

I do like the way this looks, and I'm going to spray the crap out of it when it isn't below freezing outside. In the meantime I'm going to put this photo of it up here and work on another more detailed version. ~RATIONALITY is getting this card...when it isn't completely shedding pastels all over the place.
