It`s the freaky angle that`s throwing you off I expect It`s taken with a fisheye lens, distorts the perspective

This one is also mindblowing.... the editing is fantastic and the silvery effect against all those blues with touches of green on the details is very attention calling.
Curves and lines raising up to the sky, looks almost surreal !!!
You know, last week I was at Punta del Este and there were some interesting buildings.
While hubby drove I took some shots through the car window and I was hoping to submit them for you to see what we have here...but they are NOT as nice as yours!
Anyway, if you would like to see them, I can send them to you on an email ... I would be embarrassed to upload mine after seeing yours hahaha!

You got it!
I'll do so this week-end
Remember they are snapshots only
And by the way: what is to tonemap something? (short will do,
I don't want to give you much work! I googled that, but the
explanation was a bit complicated. Is there a simple way to
understand that? (No rush!)

JonnyGoodboy In reply to Manwathiell [2010-10-19 17:25:39 +0000 UTC]
Will look forward to them Sis
Tone-mapping is associated with HDR (High Dynamic Range) files, typically you shoot 3 exposures of the same shot and tonemap them in programs such as "Photomatix Pro" but you can also achieve similar results using a single RAW file instead
Feel free to ask me anything else Sis,either here or via note if you desire to know more

Manwathiell In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2010-10-22 00:49:15 +0000 UTC]
It's very interesting... I can understand that.
Now, can it only be done with RAW files?
Or is there any known way to do something similar with a jpg?
Or with three jpg's that have different exposures?
(I am aware that you might not know the answer to this! )
Thank you, dear Jonathan!

Manny, come on! You should know me better than this by now...of course I know
You most certainly can use Jpgs, the most common used method is in fact 3 Jpgs shot at Normal exposure,+1 Overexposed and -1 Underexposed.
Its` advised to use a Tripod to shoot these as you have to keep the actual picture exactly the same for all 3
If you have a steady hand and your cam has a decent continuous burst (like mine,it can shoot 6.5 Frames per second) then you can shoot them handheld and many times I have.
But mostly I tend to use the single RAW file.
regarding the Jpgs you then use an HDR editing program such as Photomatix Pro,Photoshop CS4/5 plus there are a few others to blend and tonemap these 3 images.
Have a look at HDR soft`s site Manny, this is the company behind Photomatix >>> [link]
Any other Q`s or help...you know wjere your Bro is

Manwathiell In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2010-10-24 18:31:18 +0000 UTC]
Sorryyyyyy!
I have a tripod and yes, my camera can take with different exposures.
I am pretty sure that I can take three shots with it (it's not the
same as when you keep the button down and it takes continuously, this
is a function where it takes exactly 3 shots). But it only delivers
jpg's (no raw files).
Hmmm... so I "could" take a jpg and make three copies of it,
reduce exposure on one, increase on the other, and then use
Photomatix? (I'm sure I downloaded that program and I have
it at the office PC... I'll give it a try).
Thank you, dear Jonathan !!!

I really am curious about the fisheye function.
What do mean by that?
Is it a camera with this function or software to make it?
Can you tell me more about it?

JonnyGoodboy In reply to VsGlamourous [2010-10-24 09:36:28 +0000 UTC]
It`s a dedicated separate lens you attach to your DSLR camera that gives a distorted 180Β° perspective on the scene around you
This is the one I have so you can see for yourself >>> [link]
