Description
In 16th century, original city of Kalmar locates on continental Sweden oppositing the island of Kalmar castle. At least war with Denmark violates the castle and original Kalmar badly in 1611-1613. In year 1647, Kalmar was destroyed by huge fire. New city was decided to build on Kvarnholmen island. In map are first buildings still existing there.
