Description Marco, for those of you who may not know, is a Chinese company that has decided to try manufacturing higher-end colored pencils at a lower purchase price. Along with the Raffines, which are scholar grade, they produce the Renoir line for artists as well as a line if water color pencils. The Raffine and Renoir lines are supposed to be an oil based pencil though this is not on the packaging.

I really have not used these enough to have a solid opinion of their quality but I can say that, like you'd expect, the Raffine are not quite as good as the Renoir. The Raffine run about $20-30 for a box of 72 colors (no repeats). Though it may not be reflected in the image I provided, the colors are bright enough but not as vivid as Prismacolor. They don't seem to be as prone to breakage as my Prismacolors, that's a point in their favor but the individual pencils don't have color names, just a number and that counts as a negative.

This particular photo is a photograph taken under a combination of natural daylight and Ott-light. I did not edit it digitally.
