How do we make white feels brighter than white? As artists, if we want to paint an extremely bright object, the lightest value we can get is pure white. However, white doesn't shine by itself, so how did I illuminate her face in this study? ⁣🤔

👉 Trick one: Contrast. The light value will feel brighter next to a dark value. In this study, her dark hair and dark background helped making her face shine. ⁣

👉 Trick two: Colour temperature. Having some very saturated colour on the lip and corner of the eye helped the viewer to feel the warm temperature. ⁣
.
👉Trick three: Details. Leaving as much details as you can on the light part of the face helped to create an over exposed feel. ⁣
