Description
4-16-74After one slight delay due to a insufficient road clearance at Sparta, the Morris County Central Railroad equipment moves along.
Former Southern Railway 2-8-0 number 385 works as a mid-helper while former United States Army 0-6-0 number 4039 drags in front of the train.
This green-and-gold Consolidation was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1906 assigned for the Southern Railway's
fast freight service out of Richmond, Virginia.
Retired in 1952, she was sold to the Virginia Blue Ridge Railway where it was renumbered as 'No. 6', working for shortline service until 1959.
Having been sidelined in rustic condition, the old engine was slated to be scrapped until it was saved by Earle Gil who purchased and restored her
in time for the newly-incorporated Morris County Central railroad in New Jersey.
