i like this too. the sky looks awesome. the trees on the right could have been used more effectively though. hiding down there in the corner, they do a better job of distracting the eye than adding the the depth of the photo. i know you said this is a snapshot though so you probably didnt think to try different angles. maybe next time. good job

Yes...I see what you're saying definately. And it's true I had very limited options, and limited time. I felt that too when I took the picture, but I still feel that even in their place, they add an element to the image that I like. It's a negotiable issue in this type of photograph. Thanks!

Nope...just upped the brightness a little because I usually try to under-expose slightly on the camera so it doesn't white out any good highlights. Thanks a lot!

Reason why I asked is because the clouds by the sun look sharpened.
Most of the time I take clouds like this with a F4.0 shutterspeed 1/4000 iso 100
I see you used F Number: F/8.0 can you use lower? maybe it will increase the edging.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I thought that the higher the f/, the more detail and the sharper the image would be due to the increased depth of field. Why is it that dropping from f8 to f4 would have increased the sharpness of the clouds?

Its not a stupid question altough unexpected.
Technically you are right but i compared this photo with my own cloud shots.
It must have been the lighting in this pictures that causes the `edges`because
I had a bunch of clouds that looked more smoother in simulair conditions.
But Any way you are right

Yep, I can (go lower)...and thanks! This picture was more of a snapshot. I was driving home from testing a couple panoramas and saw this, so I stopped in the road and just threw in the settings and got a good comp as I could and took the pic. There were cars coming so I couldnt take much time :\ But I don't do a lot of this type of photography at this point, so your advice is helpful, thank you

Also, the clouds over the sun are actually coming from a power plant's cooling tower...it isn't a natrual cloud So I guess it is also just a lot more condensed than the rest, which would cause that probably...?
