I have always wanted to do a chess render ever since I began with 3D art. However, chess renders are among the most overdone image in 3D art, so I've always put it off until I could do one with a new twist. This is that time.

Alas, the original design of the chess pieces is not mine. I saw the original and decided to tweak it a bit to my tastes.

On a related note, if anyone knows where this design originally came from I would love to know. So far I've been able to find only a single reference to the set anywhere on the internet, and only as a "Hey, I saw this cool chess set once." No idea who created the designs.
