Description
the tiny white hairs are made using a staedtler eraser... the black shades are soft charcoal... which is why it turned out deep black... i have a charcoal powder which helped me reduced the number of working hours with the aid of a firm chinese brush... for more questions see my shading techniques...media: charcoal pencils, faber castle pencil 2HD, 30x45 canon specialty paper, brush
time frame: 12 hours
subject: wolverine(hugh jackman) x-men 2
I love Hugh Jackman so much, and the way he portrayed Wolverine was great... i learned to love the character because of him... this is one the most challenging portraits i've ever done for i don't have charcoal powder... that i actually have to reduce the charcoal pencil into something like that of dust so i can use the brush and apply to the linen paper...
acknowledgment: THANKS for all the comments and favorites... im greatly overwhelmed with everyone who dropped by this page! May the good Lord bless you all!

Oh! I also meant to ask, where can I find your "shading techniques"? I wish you had a video showing how you do your brushing on YouTube somewhere. I am currently taking college courses in fine art. I am an illustrator and charcoal is a whole new ball of wax for me. I never had been taught shading and value. I did get started classes in high school and it is not explain or demonstrated much, if at all, in my current college classes so I am always looking for "how-to" and visuals to actually see how it is done but I have yet to find any using charcoal powder or graphite powder. I know of them and know it can be done with a brush but have never seen it done.
