A great list! I don't totally agree with #2, because there are 2 types of artist's families:
Type a - indifferent, never miss one oportunity to say "go find a REAL JOB!"
Type b - illusive, always love what you do, even when it's a total crap.
This reminds me one golden rule i heard somewhere: never ask your family what they think about your work.
(The lucky ones are who have older artists in their families...)

These are all pretty funn - I gotta say though that my family is pretty supportive.
The last one makes me think of a graphic design tennet:
"Under-promise and over-deliver"
It's always better to get a client to agree to something you know is possible, and then know THAT expectation out the park. Better than the reverse (having to deliver the universe in a day ><)

wow. But number 2 got me for a second. Its bad to EXPECT your family to cheer you on? What if you know they already are (cheering you on) and you happen to tell them your projects anyway? is that kind of the same thing? this one spooked me a little bit.

I think the author is just pointing out that not every family will support all subject matter(monsters/nudes/violent pics etc) and if that's the case to allow it to be so-and just continue to art in the way that makes you happy.
