I did it.

I was in a HTTYD mood (by mood I mean that I was taking up 5 pages of my sketchbook doodling toothless) and I decided to do something digitally. Instead, I scanned in a really rough sketch that I did in my sketchbook and...spent like 6 straight hours on this. *Flops DIES*
AND IT CAME OUT AMAZING OMG OMG OMG.
And yes, I love this movie to DEATH. I have seen it too many times to count and I named this after the most beautiful song in the sound track, forbidden friendship. <3

I think this has kinda redefined how I draw on the computer. I'd been experimenting with different kinds of stuff, and then I just pooped this out randomly. This was the most comfortable drawing experience I've had in a while! I just went with whatever, and was confident that it would turn out fine. And it did!
I also finally broke through that wall that you get when you've finished shading or coloring something, but its jut on plain black...but you don't want to mess with what you did at all. I got over that and put a shitload of sparkle sparkle glow on there, blurred the lines and colors, and BLAH. Perfect.

Oh I get WAY into school assignments. While I have all of my anime shit on here, I have some serious stuff going into my art class. I really need to post up the realism skeleton I did a week ago, I spent 3 weeks on it and I am so effing proud of it it is insane. I am going to go ahead and be a bitch and say that I think mine was one of, if not the, best in the class because I was SO. GOD. DAMN. ANAL. About every single little thing. It completely changed how I look at shadows in real life. (And then I went and made a background that sucked such major balls that I want to rip it up and burn it for ruining my beautiful skeleton.)
And now we are starting scratchboard and I am getting way into it. 8D I AM LEARNING THAT IS WHAT I CAME TO THIS CLASS FOR.

Oh I don't take art classes. Probably not going to look good on my transcript when I try to be an art major. 
But the art classes at my school seems like a joke...I dunno...I might change my opinion if I actually took the class. My friend is learning vanishing points and perspective right now, and I don't actually think I'd mind sitting in on the lessons.

mhmmmm. It's a black board with white underneath that you scratch at, but we have QUALITY scratchboard, not that shitty stuff some people use. Anyways, it's basically drawing in reverse, which makes it perfect for doing right after realism in graphite, because you learn so much more about value and texture.
My dad has this quote which I think is annoying but has a point: "Study without desire spoils the memory, and it retains nothing that it takes in." Basically, that's why everyone forgets most of what they learn in math if they major in art, even if they were good at math, because they didn't care and will eventually forget. And other similar situations. But what I take from it is that the only way that you really learn anything is if you want to learn, and try to learn. And it really works. In classes that I really cared about, like art and Japanese, I do really well and I learn a LOT. A LOT LOT.
BTW, you should see what LEVELS of art classes you have. It might be that the art class with all the trivial stuff that you hear about is the beginning class, and you should see if you can skip to the advanced class. ;3

Exactly. I find that when studying vocabulary, only the words I find interesting or useful are the ones I remember for a while.
Sadly, I don' really have any classes, other than Judo, where I can say the same for. Math, I only remember my trig because it's been drilled into me so much now that its just stuck. But then again, I kinda like trig and calculus. English, History, Chem, certain parts of sciences....all mostly forgotten cuz I don't like them as much.

See, I only know about the beginner art classes, and its just a mix of stuff, and the teachers actually grade on how well you draw/make art, despite them telling its based on effort. In their eyes, if you cant draw, it means you didn't put enough effort in it. (Not to sound arrogant, but I don't think I'll have a problem there, but the idea of having a judgmental teacher like that irritates me to no ends.)
I asked around, and apparently, only if you know the art teacher and are on good terms with them (which I already told you my opinion of them) am I allowed to skip up. No pass go.

huh, well that really sucks. My school is becoming poor as dirt, and our music program (except for the jazz choir) got cut, but we still have a damn decent art program. We have AP studio art! (Which I will be taking next year. ;3)
We've got some amazing teachers and a good grading system. Here, we grade off a rubric, and the grade is mostly self-evaluation (if the teacher disagrees with you a lot they'll change you're grade, but, its mostly how you grade yourself). The rubric is based off of assignment criteria and how/if it is met, effort and attitude, creativity and design, and craftsmanship and completeness. Only 1 of the sections of the rubric is skill-based, so even if you aren't the BEST with a pencil, you still get a good grade if you try hard and think outside the box.
The Art 1 and Advanced art classes are WAY different. Half of the school takes art one and half of the school takes spanish, because you have to have one year of a fine art or language to graduate. About 5% of the people in art 1 move on to advanced art, and those are the people who CARE and will actually do work. Art 1 is therefore just a bunch of kids who goof off, don't like art, and don't want to be there. (ART CLASSES SHOULD NOT BE LIKE MATH CLASSES WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN)
I mean, jesus, I help my art teacher out in 1st period sometimes since I have no class then and I walk in and its this huge crowded, noisy, obnoxious clump of kids that don't care, not an art class! and then 3rd period I walk into my art 2 class and there's like 12 students just sitting with their nose to their projects in complete silence and concentration. The only sound is the occasional person taking the earbuds out of their ears and asking for a quick little critique, opinion, or advice, or when we have to take notes on our new project and people get all excited. I can't even IMAGINE what the AP class is like. They're the class that funds all of their expensive endeavors by SELLING the art they make in the class. And calendars. Which I will buy.

Our school has no interesting APs. We have al the basic ones, like English, the Histories, the Sciences, and the Languages. Only one I think that's unique is AP Computer Science, btu even then, its not a big deal.
Our only claim to fame is our judo program. xD Other than that, we SUCK.
I wish I went to a school with a good art program. I guess ours is ok, since the teachers like to ask for donations, which goes towards buying Prismacolor pencils, which most kids end up stealing by the end of the year anyways.
Each teacher grades differently here, so it's really dependent on who you have as a teacher.
My year of fine art was band. I didn't do much since we didnt have any piano concertos. (and I was stuck in the lowest band class. Fuck being a freshman.)
I kinda regret not taking an art class, but I've yet to see any "quality" work come out of that class, so....
I mean, I've seen some of the projects, and they seem potentially fun. I dunno.
I regret it the most that the advance art classes get to draw murals on the school wall. You work in a group of people to draw a mural somewhere on the wall. but most of the murals "suck", imo, so.....>.>

Maybe that's why I'm not taking art. Hell, it most likely is. And I regret it, but I mostly regret that I can't accept that the classes at my school are "acceptable for me." I sound so high and mighty, and all I really know how is pencil and copic work. D:<

Wow, I might start reconsidering the quality of my school. 0o I guess we are pretty good, one of the top in the county...we would be better if 25% of our student body wasn't comprised of mexican kids who are the sons and daughters of illegal immigrants working in the strawberry fields. I'm not being racist at all, it's true, and almost all of those kinds of people don't care about school, cut class all the time (thus depriving the school of money and not even bothering with the CAT exams, that COULD give our school more funding). We have have ROP vocational classes, some really decent teachers, a great fine art program, and the only thing we don't have much of is foreign language. We have Spanish 1-AP, and a French class that will probably be cut in the future 'cause it has so few students.
We have ROP (a vocational class) Graphic Design (I took that!) Video Production, Criminal Justice, and a couple others (I think there was an architecture one...?)...we have a 'movie appreciation' class. XD LAWL its just a filler class seniors take. We have woodshop, art, and lemme see...we have AP European History, AP US history, AP Studio Art, AP Calculus, AP Physics, Honors Chemistry, AP American Lit, AP English Lit, Honors American Lit (taking), and maybe a few others I dunno about.

We have great teachers and stuff. We just have nothing especially interesting to brag about. xD We are high in the country to....4 years ago, in the top 300, but now, we dropped to top 1500 I think. D:
Our French class is insanely popular, and we always have a full house in Spanish and French.
Like I said, our judo class is the best thing we have, in my opinion. We have some other interesting classes too. Like TV/Media(learning about making/editting videos and such), Creative Writing(which I hear really sucks this year because they changed teachers), Film(I dunno, analyze films? I know they don't actually film things...that's TV/MEdia), and there WAS a videogame making class, but I heard it was kinda lame. xD Game maps and stuff like that. OUr multimedia art class is popular...computer art and such. Last year, they had enogh money to make a lot of pin buttons, and sold them cheaply. I had a few made for myself for around 50 cents each. xD It was great.
I used to be a beast at woodshop in middle school. At the 8th grade promotional ceremony, they give a special award to one boy and girl for each subject, and I was the only person to get a woodshop award. Take that man! (A girl no less. my parents told me some people were actually all like "woah, a girl got that?" and I was LAUGHING SO HARD AT THAT.)
I'll show you something I made sometime, like take a picture or something. I have them all over the house.
We also have a dance class. It teaches you lots of different dances from different cultures. My frined told me it was great.
We have an AMAZING drama program. Our school is connected to an auditorium that the city owns. and they let us use it for our play productions. We spend a crapload of money each year putting on the show. I think they said around 10k? They always manage to make a profit, which amazes me...It's incredible. But a lot of people wath the plays, but thats mostly because every single English teacher offers extra credit to students that go watch the play. And its usually worth watching. WE had Peter Pan last year, and the props and scenery was awesome, not to mention that actually had FLYING.
There are supposed to be open auditions to all students this year. WHen I was a kid, I loved to perform and stuff, but now that I'm older, I hide to myself, and don't really go in front of people. Mostly because everyone is an asshole to me now, so I don't want to draw anymore attention to myself than necessary. xD
Also got a Psychology class.
And we have this thing called Current LIfe, which is like sex/drug ed. It's a required semester class. I have yet to take it, since I was tryign to get it zero period. I'll try again next year. If not, I'll always just take care of it during the year.

Yeah, we have health, which is basically your current life class. We HAVE to take it freshman year tho, everyone does. The other semester your supposed to take computers.
Anyways, we have a good theater program...I think. I know that we spent a SHITLOAD of money to make this WAY WAY WAY fancy auditorium theater thing. I mean it is WAY fancy. I walk in there and I feel like I'm in a movie theater, and it's in my highschool. I would say it was a poor choice of money, but it JUST got finished before the economy went sour, sooo...we put on a lot of plays and stuff and have lots of benefits, but I dunno if our drama program is really outstanding or anything, since I never ever TOUCH acting or drama or anything. XDD You go sing in front of a ton of people, I'll be back here with my pencil and laptop thankyouverymuchbye.
Wow, video game making and dance? Now THAT is cool. And Judo, wow. We've got the basic sports, and let me tell you, the only reason we havn't cut any of the sports is because 1. we've started a pay-to-play thing, so to be on a team you have to pay (normally), and 2. We're actually a top sports competitor in our county, especially football and volleyball. And we've got some BEAST Varsity boy's tennis for SURE.
