He was sent out to find Wolverine by Stryker, and was given this suit by Weapon X. He was successful and the two became mortal enemies. He started calling himself Sabretooth to make himself seem more powerful than Logan. He attacked the X Mansion multiple times but was always stopped by either Logan, the X-Men, or both.
