Description
I thought I'd try a self portrait. Turns out I get bored painting myself, so it became a half-ass sketch more than an actual painting.I might move it to scraps soon.

I keep on finding a way to comment on this that won't sound cheesy. ...but it's not going to happen, so I'll go so far as to say "wow!" anyway.

That said, Yeah, tightening it up is always a pain, but it still is pretty (and aparently, so are you. barring cheating and self-agrandization-by-way-of-art).
Whereas it's a shame you don't wanna finish it up, I can't say as I blame you. I know the feeling.

I wouldn't move it to scraps, even if you did kinda quit caring at the end--I think this has a lot of merit in itself. It's just...the detail on the lips is amazing, aside from the fact that it's just a good piece overall.

Wow, why would you want to scrape this? You did an excellent job on the hair and the skin. I like the simplicity of it. Very easy to look at and you have a very pretty subject. What else could you ask for from it?

Turns out I get bored painting myself As my teacher says when he assigns us to do self portraits, "It's what you make of it that makes it boring or exciting." So if nothing else, there are ways to make it less boring for you. Just thought I shared that with you.

Listen, put it away, forget about it for 5- 6 months, and maybe then you'll find the passion in finishing this piece. I see a theme though, "Desolate beauty is beauty still." I cannot really comment enough about the magnanimity of a women's natural beauty.
