Description
The gates went open in the Derby Cup and Subsidized left them with Madelynn in the saddle. But all didn’t go right, when the colt bursted out of his gate everything went fine but when they had cantered a bit longer he fell on his knees and stumbled. He lost precious time before he bursted off to keep up with the other horses. Madelynn cursed in the saddle. Sub gained ground, but his speed figure ran low when it was time for the finish line.

Madelynn tried to work up the colts fighting spirit but he never responded. The fall had taken it’s right. They passed the finish as 6th. Madelynn forced Sub to stop and the colt did so. They returned to the grandstand where William was, together with Josephine, ready to lead the sweaty colt.
- I think he need some more training, said Madelynn with a sulky face.
- You are just bitter that you didn’t place, said Will as he gave the colt a pat and a bit of candy. You cannot train a horse not to fall, it happens. Remember Blaze The Trail? One of the best we had, he fell out there on the track. Will pointed at the track. No one was ready for that…

- I think he is a sweetheart, said Joe and gave Sub another bit of candy which he ate with delight.
