Description
To briefly explain on what happened (that I couldn't fit into this fact and I didn't feel like making more), it goes as follows:Eons ago, the Diamond Authority, at the height of their power over the Milky Way, was made up of White, Yellow, Blue and Red Diamond. Red, standing to equal stature as White, was the Homeworld Empire's foremost authority on war and conflict. As such, she carried out a majority of the empire's battles and personally fought on the front lines against its many enemies, rather than sitting back and watching from afar.
Her last battle was the war against the Talpaedans, when the Empire tried and failed to expand into Andromeda by conquering Terraexcava, only for the king of the Talpaedans, named Quake, to absolutely curb stomp the empire's soldiers, with a single Talpaedan able to shatter hundreds of Gems in only a couple of hours.
Unable to accept defeat, Red ordered her troops to stand their ground, but her commands weren't heeded as many fled to space in fear. When Red was the last Gem left on Terraexcava, King Quake personally marched up to her Palanquin and drove his drills through her gemstone, shattering her in a single strike. When the smoke cleared, the battle was over and White, Blue and Yellow were left horrified by the power of the Talpaedans as they recovered what shards of Red they could find.
Devastated and unable to accept Red's loss, the other three banded together and united their powers to try and revive her from the grave. It was a success, but left heavy strain on all three. Even then, it was an incomplete process due to the group losing several shards to Terraexcava's sandy dunes, resulting in Red being revived as a dwarf Off Color Gem named... Pink Diamond.
Later, during Rose Quartz's Rebellion, Bismuth learned of the Empire's fear of the Talpaedans and forged the Breaking Point to be an homage of their ancient enemies, harnessing the shattering strength of their drills for the Rebellion's use, only for Rose to ban the weapon due to her own leftover trauma and residual memories of being shattered as Red Diamond.
When Pink/Rose faked her own shattering later to end the war for Earth (which was purely an act of desperation on her part, as her prior trauma made her highly hesitant), the remaining Diamonds lashed out with the Corruption Attack out of grief due to essentially losing Red Diamond twice in such a short amount of time (from their point of view).
