Description
I discovered that my settings that I've been using (the ones from my previous tutorial ) are a little off. I began making my own skin based off of Lilith6 and I realized the eye makeup color was not accurate. I couldn't figure out where it was getting lost in translation, photoshop? Daz? Luxrender? It's the SSS settings...
In my tutorial setting I state that my translucency is set to 50% grey, but I ended up using pure 100% white with good results. Now with the SSS I've been using it looks really good with plain skin, but as soon as you use a different color from reds and yellows (skin tones) it ends up over powering the skin giving a red tint or glow.
-The first render shows 100% SSS on the left and 75% SSS on the right. Both G2F are set to no skin mats with Diffuse full black.
-Second render is with Lilith6 set into the diffuse, Same SSS settings.
-Last render is one of the makeup settings applied. You should notice some red bleed through still on the eyelids and mouth, but at a much tolerable amount.
Moral of the story is... SSS is a never ending adventure and don't be afraid to play with settings.
*all renders are done with one light plane and a simple IBL sphere. no direct backlight*

This is less work than my fix. Wish I'd thought to try it.
My fix for this was totally different but with the same results- I left the Transmission Color at pure white, but applied the same skin mat to the Transmission Color as I did to Diffuse Color, instead of leaving matless. >.<
