Description
This tutorial will give you basic information on how to blend the top and bottom of a deviantART journal via means of CSS (cascading style sheets). Please NOTE! A subscriber or senior membership is required for a CSS journal. If you are not a subscriber, see this link for information.
also note - i suggest Photoshop for this job, which can price anywhere between $40 for "Photoshop Elements" to around $1000 for the official program. See this link for more information.
This is a step-by-step process explaining how to acheive a well blended journal.
Though simple, this is a very effective means of making nice journals, which can be added onto at any point in time (which i indent to complete, don't worry!)

no repeat-x-mirror is not possible.. and it's not needed as well..
just reflect your background-image in photoshop.. that should do it
and your tutorial is good

oh by the way, i've edited this ... what do you think now? i cleaned up the coding a bit. one question... the little tip at the bottom, i've come across a rule in the deviantART rulez section about hotlinking images.... but that's only for off site right? otherwise they wouldn't provide us with the code for embedding images into journals?

looks better yes.
tho I still think the max-width property should be left behind
And I'm pretty sure you can use your scraps to host the images for your journal.
But to make 100% sure you might want to contact the helpdesk about this..

oh i thought that was out .... whoopsie
well i kinda figured if it was a real big problem the creative staff would know about it and as such, you don't, so it's probably not. i'll be safe and contact anyway. thanks for giving it a lookover
