Jax is a misfit Demon condemned by Hell after refusing to kill a mortal who became their friend after meeting him by accident at a festival in his village. Arius showed Jax a kindness they had never known before, allowing them into his quiet life where he taught them things such as taking care of his family's garden and how to make his mother's favorite dish.

Unfortunately for Jax, this ended in a tragedy, as their superior Egil brought a legion to Arius' village where it was burned to the ground. Arius was killed in the fight, and Jax executed (via electrocution, as Egil's ability is commanding electricity) by Egil as a traitor. Jax somehow survived this attempt on their life, however, and now live on the run from their former superiors and friends.

A few things to know about Jax's world:

This world is called Apateos. It is made up of Daonna (the mortal people), Demons, Angels, and the Leviathans. Non-Daonna do not age or get sick, and therefore cannot die unless killed. The world itself is more medieval-esque in terms of technology.

Apateos was created by the twin gods Askel and Devrath, who later became known by the Daonna as the God and the Devil. They created the Leviathans together, but before any more could be done Devrath became jealous of Askel's power and sought to kill them. They created the Demons to wage war against their sibling, who created the Angels to stop them before locking Devrath under the earth and disappearing altogether. The Leviathans tried to fix their broken world by creating more people themselves, and these people became the Daonna. They did not have the same magic as they did and their lives were far shorter, but regardless they spread across Apateos and built their own societies.

The Leviathans are now considered extinct after the Demons and Angels waged a war on them several centuries ago and wiped out their entire known population.

Both Demons and Angels are each based in design off of one animal and have one ability that comes from the power of their god. They also have a secondary Daonna form aside from their more powerful forms; these forms aren't commonly seen unless they are attempting to mingle with or hide among the Daonna for one reason or another.
