Sometimes I wish more people would say something about the fading scars on my arms. Maybe they think I'd be embarrassed? If I was ashamed to show them, I'd get my annual flu shoots, and blood tests, on my right arm, and not my left; and I'd certainly not wear short-sleeved shirts in warm weather. There was a time, long ago,when I may have been a bit self-conscious of my scars.....but I wear them now, more as badges of pride, than something to be ashamed of. For, after all, they are a visible reminder of my battle with my demons; and they speak clearly to the fact...... that I won!
