Description
Rei is a new character from a story of mine inspired by the Mother/Earthbound franchise and drawn in the style of Pen Ward (Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors). It involves the impending end of the world via asteroid and a crash-landed alien's attempt to stop it with the help of a group of kids whose cosmic psionic powers awaken.Rei comes from Nightside, the analogue of New York City, which has buildings so tall it's only daytime for one hour per day (noon). He learns kinetic psionics (pyro, hydro, cryo, tele, etc.), making him one of the heavy-hitters of the party. Since this story takes place in a world based on 1950s America, his "Japanese" origins come heavily into play, contrasting with the Americana caricature that is the setting with the reality of the era.
