Description
After Godzilla’s supposed “last” film TOHO began to use other properties that they had and released two of them around the same time, one would follow their second best Kaiju into a trilogy, the other would get a 2 part OVA anime following one of, if not the first super flying battleship in Japanese pop culture The Atragon (more commonly known as The Gotengo).

Set in its own continuity, the story follows a young U.N. Naval officer Gou Hyuga and his girlfriend Ann get swept up in a global crisis when a secret race of subterraneans declare war on the surface using weapons and technology that surpasses anything the world has to offer, even nuclear weapons.

However hope remains in the form of The Ra, a super undersea battleship meant to be the ultimate weapon that could have changed the course of WWII, but after leaning of the immediate threat that was to come, the captain how is Gou’s long lost father and his crew take up arms against this new enemy in a battle that will decide the fate of earth and the human race.

The story is pretty much straight forward story wise and the animation is pretty well done, all in all it’s a decent watch and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to give it a try, especially if you’re a fan of the flying submarine with a drill at the end.
