Description In Marc Cerasini's novel "Godzilla At World's End, I always remembered and loved the epic fight between Gigan and Anguirus, because I was always so glad that Anguirus finally kicked some tail on that cyborg chicken. This is a mere artistic rendering of said epic battle.

Poor boy?Ā  He OWNED in this fight Ā  He ends up dragging Gigan by the neck into the Caspian Sea by the end of the chapter.Ā  Gigan's the one who needs a little sympathy here, he got smoked.

That's Gigans stump, not stabbing Anguirus 😁 Angy BROKE the claw off.

Dang, this one is old XDĀ  But thanks, I was always fond of this scene, and the book it came from.

I've had the Cerasini books on my shelves, unread, for years.Ā  But Anguirus is in them?Ā  Kicking butt?!Ā  Now I have to dig them out and read them!

(Great angry-looking Anguirus, btw.)

They were really solid books, granted they weren't all terrific and couldn't use any new monsters (something I never really understood about certain Toho restrictions), but with the exception of Godzilla Returns they were all great reads, and that one only really suffered because it was just a retelling of Godzilla 1985.Ā  My favorite to this day is still Godzilla vs The Robot Monsters, the last of the series.Ā  Great match ups in that one, including some much needed love for Baragon.

Best battle in that entire series.

See how good you are now Gigan, with no tag team partner to bail out on, mwahaha!

Is gigan's blood actually white? I imagined it to be more yellow

READ COMMENTS.Ā  I already explained several times why the blood is that color.

Why is Anguirus's blood look like milk?

KaijuKid In reply to GodzillaFan1234 [2014-01-21 05:19:46 +0000 UTC]

First off I assume you mean Gigan Ā  Secondly, the scene in the book described the "blood" coming out of Gigan's stump as being silver white in color, so I just went with the book description.

That's a pretty sweet scene! Anguirus deserves to whup some monster butt.

On another note, I see Gigan as an archenemy to Anguirus, like how King Ghidorah is to Godzilla.

KaijuKid In reply to FusionStorm [2013-10-26 05:45:02 +0000 UTC]

I concur, they really seem well fit to be rivals and combatants against each other, probably one of many reasons why Gigan is my favorite in the series

Hold up: a licensed post-Showa work where Ang isn't stuck playing Scrappy McPunchingBag? In the 90's?? Of all the times to have been focused near-exclusively on Star Wars...

Anyhow, solid renditions-and it's a nice change of pace to see one of these guys sporting some non-trivial battle damage, even if you'd think Anguirus would've had an easier time twisting Gigan's arm off behind that hook. I'm thinking Mechagodzilla might wanna watch his space-titanium tuchus...

KaijuKid In reply to geekspace [2013-06-18 05:24:56 +0000 UTC]

ha, loved the gif XD I can't specifically remember how the hook came off, I think as another comment stated it might have been from a missile attack rather than a direct action of Anguirus, but the main thing was just how satisfying it was that he took out Gigan all by HIMSELF. The novels gave a lot of the monsters some gravitas when it came to their fighting abilities.

geekspace In reply to KaijuKid [2013-06-18 06:11:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the facedesk sums up a frightening percentage of my life.

Hmm...missed the novel(s), but I'm tempted to give Ang the benefit of the doubt. I could halfway see MG'74's finger-rounds or those armor-piercing rockets from Godzilla 2000 doing the job, but what sort of conventional (i.e. non-nuclear) punch would you need for that sort of damage? Anyhow, Anguirus deserved this rematch just as much as the likes of Varan, Manda, etc. deserved something to do beyond Destroy All Monsters' split-second cameos.

earthbaragon [2013-06-08 23:09:32 +0000 UTC]

It's been a few years since I last read the novel, but I always assumed that it was the gigantic missile attack that ended up breaking one of the cyborg's claws. I remember faintly the two were battling and then the Russians attacked with everything they had. In the billowing mist they could make out flashes of the cyborgs metal skin and Angurius' spikes. After everything was cleared, dear old Angy had Gigan by the throat like bulldog. I believe he may have dragged him into the ocean to drown him, or it might have been dead right there from the beast breaking his neck.

But from how it was described I always assumed the explosions of the missiles hurt him alot. In the novels noone does well against any of the military attacks. Everyone but Godzilla seemed to shrug off when human's were fighting back. I mean Varan feel to the Raptor airship thing and Baragon was brutalized by MG.

But that being said, this is a neat piece. Gigan looks really stocky and buff. Way more so than his actual original suit gave the impression of.

All the stories in those book are kind of a haze to me really. I remember Rodan pecking out one of Battra's eyes. Um....Baragon getting the shock anchor on him by MG and trying to burrow away. MechaKing Ghidorah fighting everyone! And Varan destroying a resort in his first appearance. Which btw, would be an awesome scene to see if you ever decide to do another piece from the novels *hint hint*

I'd be doing these all week if I were to do all the awesome scenes from Cersini's books XD Besides, I think Bob Eggleton did a bang up job on the cover (other than Biollante being strangely small....)

My favorite in the series was Godzilla vs the Robot Monsters, but World's End was a delicious jam-packed pre-Final Wars of a book that just threw out a ton of great scenarios and fights at us. This scene and a lot of the arctic stuff were the highlights for me, though for some reason I'll always remember the little Chinese woman who kinda goes "oy!" when Manda shows up XD

It's true, good old Anguirus cuts the claw, beats up Gigan then drags him into the ocean to die. It's a really great book.
