Description

The Green Candle in the MMPR show signified the depletion of Tommy's powers, and was the end of one era of the character before being reborn to the next chapter in his life. In the original Japanese series, the candle signified the approaching death of the Dragon Ranger which he could not escape. The symbolism was too strong for me to not consider when wondering how I would choose to honor Jason David Frank, who sadly chose to extinguish his own flame.

Many people succumb to the darkness in their hearts and make that sad choice, and it leaves those who love them in grief, wishing more could have been done. But all we can choose to do is honor their accomplishments, their strengths, and resolve to rise above the sadness, the darkness and the pain that they could not conquer.

For me he was a heroic figure in childhood who inspired me to seek heroism and goodness. In adulthood he was a symbol of perseverance and trying to make yourself the best you could be.

Those are the aspects I will choose to remember.
